In response to this morning’s cyber terrorist attack against Sweden, the Security Council has tabled the issue of Combating International Terrorism, to address the issue of cyber terrorism. They are currently in the process of drafting resolutions to deal with any and all problems cause by cyber terrorism.

Under the proposed resolutions cyber terrorism would be recognized as an official terrorist act as well as make it clear the United Nations condemns all forms of cyber terrorism. It would also call for a task force to protect people around the world from cyber terrorism. It calls upon every nation to make hard copies or offline back-ups of all their important documents to avoid massive crisis like the one Sweden is currently facing, in which they lost important documents regarding tax information.

The point of this would be to increase awareness and try to prevent cyber terrorism as it becomes more and more of an issue in today’s world. The delegate representing the United States of America has pointed out that the Pentagon undergoes massive amounts of cyber terrorism attacks every day, mostly originating from Russia and China, and even indicated he thought it might be possible that this morning’s Cyber attack may have originated from one of those two countries.

Despite the fact that it appears there are many cyber terrorists in both Russia and China, the countries’ representatives in the Security Council strongly supports the proposed resolutions the Security Council are currently working on.
